The day I’ve decided to start my loc journey has finally come guys. I actually knew that day was very close when I kept installing protective styles in my hair for seven consecutive months. That was the last sign which proves I’m completely over styling my loose natural hair. OVER.
I’ve been considering locking my hair for about two years now, but because locking is so permanent, I had to make sure I was truly ready to give up all of those cute styles I love. To be honest, I’m here all day for those twistouts and things, but what I have to go through to wear those styles… BRUH. That shit is for the birds.
My wash days consist of about an hour or two of prepooing preparation before shampoo even touches my hair. This is what I have to do just so I don’t have to have a bout with detangling, which is a hot ass mess. Then spending time to actually style my hair is so beyond my life right now. I just can not anymore. After doing this for almost four years now, I’m ready to cut all that BS out.
So, locking is next for my hair. I’m actually looking forward to the journey, which I have decided to fully document on my YouTube channel. When you read this post, I will have already had my starter locs done. I honestly don’t know what to expect, but my goal will be to have healthy locs over length, and I’ll definitely be taking a holistic approach to maintaining my hair. I do know patience will be key, but I’m definitely ready to begin my loc journey.
Anyone out there with locs have any advice for me? I’m currently seeking all advice! LOL
